Thanks to a purchase of new medical equipment, made possible by a Japanese Government grant, patients at the Briceni District Hospital are able to benefit from improved medical services, while the quality and quantity of the Hospital’s lab tests have also increased.

To buy the equipment, the Briceni District Hospital received from the Government of Japan a $79,994 grant.

The addition includes a medical compressor, a hematology analyzer and a biochemistry one, a coagulation analyzer, an oxygen concentrator, and two ECG machines.

“The new equipment enables us to perform high-quality diagnostics in emergency mode”, Claudia Veltman, director of the Hospital, told IPN.

The equipment has already been servicing patients since early 2018. As many as 36,500 lab tests were performed, and at least 900 intensive-care patients benefited from the oxygen concentrators. Veltman said other projects are also being discussed with the Embassy of Japan.

The ceremony to complete the medical equipment modernization project, implemented through the Kusanone Humanitarian Grants Program, will take place on Thursday.
