The bread made by the Balti bakery complex will be sold at the prices set early in March, even if the company’s administration suggested that they may return to the old prices if the bakery borrowed wheat from the state. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the company’s vice director Alexei Nitsulenko said the prices of the bakery products will not be changed in the near future. According to him, the last time the prices were raised insignificantly. However, the weight of bread increased when the price was raised. The bread that cost 2.75 lei before March 1 weighed 330 grams. Now it costs 3.5 lei, but weighs 400 grams. Thus, the price rose by only 5%. The situation with the other products is the same. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov has told Info-Prim Neo that the Balti bakery complex intended to set higher prices, but it was agreed that the company will receive wheat from the state reserve if the new prices will be lower than the projected ones. On March 1, the Balti bakery complex increased the prices of all the bakery products by 5-20%. On March 2, the Government adopted a decision whereby the Balti bakeries were allocated 3,000 tonnes of wheat from the state reserve. The Balti bakery complex supplies 80% of the necessary bread in Balti municipality.
