Brawling policemen risk being fired

Two police officers detained for hooliganism in front of a car repair station in Chisinau's Botanica district will be dismissed if it is proved that they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The Ministry of the Interior will pronounce on the case in five days, when the results of the examination are ready, Info-Prim Neo reports. Chiril Motpan, the head of the Ministry of the Interior's press office, told a news conference on August 2 that one of the two police officers who was employed in 1997 tendered his resignation. The other policeman has been engaged in 2000. They are employees of the Transport Police Commissariat. When they were involved in the brawl they were not on duty as they said. One of them was on leave. On August 1, the two policemen attacked a number of persons, saying they were employees of the Antidrug Division and were looking for traffickers in drugs.
