The national brand “Vin Moldova” (“Wine Moldova”), which was recently launched, can be used only by winemakers that meet the conditions for making wine of a high quality. For now, only one third of the Moldovan wine producers meet these conditions, Diana Lazar, manager in the winemaking industry within the USAID CEED II Project, has told IPN.
However, there is hope that in several years, most of the producers will use this brand that will mean quality. “This brand includes a business plan and a quality standard that the winemakers will have to meet,” said Diana Lazar.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said the brand will be used only for wines of a high quality, of which the new National Office of Vine and Wine is responsible. “This name must be the first thing that the consumers see – that it is a wine of a high quality made in Moldova,” he stated.
The brand “Vin Moldova” will be insistently promoted both in the country and abroad. Its launch abroad will take place within the international wine exhibition “ProWine” in Germany next March. The brand’s logo represents a stork that keeps a grape in the form of Moldova in its beak.
The brand “Vin Moldova” was designed with the assistance of USAID.
