The ‘brain’ resource is the most important value of Moldova. “You are an intelligent and talented nation and this is much more important than possessing other resources,” Austrian Ambassador to Romania and Moldova Michael Schwarzinger said in a meeting with students of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the ambassador, Moldova has a very good human potential that can be developed. “The Moldovan wines should be mentioned here as they can openly compete with the wines of the EU member states. The economic growth and development of Moldova are important factors,” said the diplomat. Michael Schwarzinger stated that Europe wants to be powerful and this is possible by uniting a number of countries through the agency of crossborder projects. “We support the strategy of cooperation in the Danube and Black Sea region. We plan to develop the road infrastructure from Constanta until Rotterdam across Europe. This way, we will make a connection between Europe through modern transport and by implementing the NABUCCO gas supply project that will bring natural gas from Central Asia to Central Europe. It will also go through Romania and Moldova will be probably connected,” he said. Michael Schwarzinger stressed that Austria will support Moldova in the European integration process through a bilateral cooperation project and the Office in Chisinau of the Austrian Embassy based in Bucharest. “The experts within this program work on the implementation of clean water supply and water management projects, different training courses. At political level, we have programs aimed at combating poverty and supporting the Moldovans so that they return home and help remedy the economic situation in the country,” said Michael Schwarzinger. He also said that Austria is for the extension of the European area and will be a powerful advocate for the Balkan countries. The country has a positive attitude towards Moldova and is for strengthening its relations with the EU so that it becomes an accession candidate.
