A child aged four from Ivancea village of Orhei district was rushed to the hospital with first- and second-degree burns on the face and left forearm after his clothes caught fire. The boy was playing together with other children and splashed a flammable liquid on himself, IPN reports.

Head of the press service of the General Police Inspectorate Sabina Cojusnean said the incident happened in the yard of an apartment building in the evening of April 25. The child and another kid were playing with a bottle of acetone without supervision. One of them lit a match and the clothes of the other child caught fire. The police are questioning the boy’s parents to establish the circumstances of the incident.

The authorities recommend those looking after children to be very prudent so as not to endanger their lives. According to statistics of the Ministry of Health, eight children under five daily run the risk of being hurt in home accidents.
