Seven boxers will represent Moldova at the European Boxing Championships that will take place in Turkey’s Ankara between June 15 and 25. Five of the Moldovan athletes - Dumitru Galagot, Violin Berzoi, Vasile Belous, Veaceslav Gojan, and Victor Cotiujanschi - are students of the Grimancauti boxing school. The other two boxers selected by coach Petru Caduc to form part of the national squad are Alexandru Rascan and Vladimir Cheles, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Moldovan boxers trained for the European champs in the German town of Hennef. The Ministry of Youth and Sport allocated about 120,000 lei that was needed for the training. The European championships represent an important stage before the qualifying rounds for the 2012 London Olympics. Only two boxers brought medals from the summer Olympic Games to Moldova so far. Vitalie Grusac ranked third in Sydney in 2000, while Veaceslav Gojan won a bronze medal in Beijing in 2008.
