Botnari and Papuc to stand trial

The General Prosecutor's Office has completed criminal proceedings against the former minister of internal affairs Gheorghe Papuc and the former Chisinau police chief Vladimir Botnari, indicting them of recklessness in office that resulted in the death of Valeriu Bococ and other injurious consequences in April 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The indictment will shortly be served to the suspects before their case is sent to the court next week, it was said in a press release from the General Prosecutor's Office.
A travel ban was imposed on Gheorghe Papuc and Vladimir Botnari. If the court finds them guilty of “recklessness in office”, the former officials will face fines of up to 800 conventional units or prison terms of up to 7 years.
