The two border police officers who followed without intervening how a young man was threatened with a knife and hit by an individual at a filling station in Criva village of Briceni district on January 13 were discharged from their posts following an inquiry conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, IPN reports.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the two functionaries’ behavior was improper for the status of police officer and didn’t match the ethnical norms accepted in society. “The public functionary with a special status of the Ministry of Home Affairs is obliged to take measures to defend the life, health, honor, dignity and property of citizens when these are threatened by illegalities or other dangers, no matter whether they are on the job or outside the working hours,” says a message of the institution.
