Border guards could wear a new type of nominal badge during service. The proposal was put forward by the head of the Border Police, Rosian Vasiloi, who said that employees are currently obliged to wear service cards in sight in order to be identified by citizens, as stipulated by internal regulations. The IDs hold personal data, which could be used against the border police officers.

Rosian Vasiloi explained that citizens will be able to identify each Border Police employee with the help of the badge, however, personal data will no longer be displayed. According to him, the citizens should be able to identify the person with whom they interact, especially when it comes to law enforcement agents, yet personal data should be protected.

"We suggest that the new badge enables citizens to identify the border police officer to whom they are talking to, but also protects the personal data of my colleagues. The badge would include the logo of the institution and the same serial number that the service cards hold, yet nothing more”, said Rosian Vasiloi.

The Border Police chief posted three models of badges on his Facebook page and requested feedback from colleagues and citizens in order to establish how the most modern and comfortable badge for border guards looks like.
