The General Border Police Inspectorate has a new chief. This is Ruslan Galușcă, who was appointed by the Government to this position on Friday, IPN reports.
Interior Minister Adrian Efros said that Ruslan Galușcă has worked in the General Border Police Inspectorate since 2009. During this period, he held various posts, including administrative positions in the field of ensuring of state border security, combating of illegal migration and cross-border crime, etc.
The position of head of the General Border Police Inspectorate fell vacant after Rosian Vasiloi tendered his resignation following the November 5 incident, when a citizen of Azerbaijan unlawfully left the security zone of the Chisinau International Airport. The man was detained the next day near the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Chisinau. Subsequently, the foreigner was expelled from the Republic of Moldova.
Rosian Vasiloi’s resignation was also demanded in the public space after the June 30 incident, when a border guard and an airport security officer were shot dead by a citizen of Tajikistan who was refused entry into Moldova. When being accompanied back, the man grabbed the border guard’s gun and opened fire.
