On the International Children’s Book Day, Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Poting donated 200 books to the library of the secondary school of Roscana village in Straseni district, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Government’s press service, Tatiana Poting met with seventh graders in a special Romanian language lesson to discuss the books preferred by the students.
The idea of an International Children’s Book Day was conceived by writer Jella Lepman in 1966. The International Board on Books for Young People, founded by the writer, decided to celebrate this day on April 2, when famous fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen was born.
