Students and other persons who were inside the Polytechnic College of Balti municipality were evacuated on Tuesday following a bomb scare. Specialists were on the scene immediately and carried out checks, but found no explosive devices as a result.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Balti Police Inspectorate Ina Banari said the police were informed at noon that an explosive device had been placed at an educational institution in Balti municipality. The police travelled to the scene, fenced the area and evacuated all the employees and students who were inside the building.
“Checks were carried out on the spot to establish all the circumstances. Following checks, no explosive device was detected and the institution resumed its activities. The police continue the investigations to identify the author of the bomb hoax,” said the press officer.
Two weeks ago, “Gheorghe Asachi” Theoretical High School situated in Centru district of Chisinau was the target of a bomb hoax. A week later, a similar hoax was reported at “Natalia Gheorghiu” Theoretical High School in Râșcani district.
According to the legislation, hoax authors face a fine of up to 42,500 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or at most two years in prison.
