The bomb squad identified explosives at two addresses in Chisinau – in an abandoned bloc of the Academy of Sciences located on Dacia St and in a building on Columna St. Searches were also performed in a building on Bucuresti St, near the Embassy of Romania, but nothing suspect was found there, IPN reports.
Minister of the Interior Oleg Balan has told the press that firearms, Molotov cocktails, explosive devices and mobile phones were discovered in the building on Columna St. After examining the phones, it was established that a number of calls to Russia were made from them. In the other building, there were also discovered explosive devices. The Bomb Squad is to examine other buildings located nearby.
The minister said the circumstances of these cases are not yet clear, but an investigation will be launched to establish all the details. The searches at the three addresses were carried out following relevant information obtained by the police.
