The “Dignity Town”, set up in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau, was searched by experts of the Technical-Criminalistics Center of Judicial Examinations after a caller informed that there are explosives in the Square. The central square of Chisinau was surrounded by policemen, who restricted the people’s access to the area and evacuated a part of the protesters, IPN reports.
“We received a phone call by which we were informed about the presence of explosives in the Great National Assembly Square. The Technical-Explosive Unit together with the Criminological Center used special means and sniff dogs to examine the area. No suspect objects were found. A criminal case will be started over hooliganism,” said Nicolae Bodrug, head of the Technical-Criminalistics Center of Judicial Examinations.
The protesters were warned and asked to leave the area, but some of them remained in the tents. “We were told about a bomb threat. I think it is false. They are looking not for bombs, but for tools and knives before the October 4 protest. I think this is a provocation staged by those who are troubled by our stay here - the rulers. We must be calm. They will soon allow everyone to return,” said Ruslan Garbitski, a member of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”.
“They found nothing. The alert was false. I didn’t leave the place because something like this happens often here. The last time it was last Sunday,” said protester Vitalie Pascan.
