A man aged 39 from Chisinau was arrested by the police for a bomb hoax. He called the 112 Service and said that an explosive had been planted in the building of Moldtelecom. He wanted to make a joke, but was arrested shortly afterward. He said he was inebriated and didn’t realize what he was doing, but now faces two years in jail, IPN reports.
According to the Chisinau Police Division, the police were alerted at about 8:30pm on June 25. The specialized services travelled to the scene and the area was fenced. The personnel were evacuated from the building. As a result of checks, no explosive device was found in the building.
The caller admitted his guilt. He is now held at the remand prison of the Chisinau Police Division and is investigated for intentional misleading about an act of terrorism. He faces a fine of 27,500 to 42,500 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or a maximum jail term of two years.
