The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu, who is in Chisinau on a visit, said that it is very important to strengthen the political will of Chisinau for advancing the reformation process by implementing the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. “It is very important to underline Romania’s continuous commitment for Moldova’s European course. Nobody can take the European perspective away from Moldova because it forms part of the genetic code of the Moldovan citizens,” the Romanian minister said after a meeting with his counterpart Natalia Gherman, IPN reports.

Bogdan Aurescu approved of the results of the June 14 local elections. “It is a clear choice by the Moldovan people in favor of the European values and the country’s European course, with the relevant expectations of the Moldovan authorities,” he stated.

The minister reiterated Romania’s support for the peaceful resolution of the Transnistrian conflict, by observing Moldova’s territorial integrity, and underlined the necessity of resuming the negotiations in the 5+2 format with the constructive engagement of all the participants and the avoidance of unilateral actions.

MNatalia Gherman thanked Romania for the support provided to Moldova in implementing its European agenda at political level, by its messages and measures taken within the EU, and at practical level, by the exchange of experience and good practices in different areas. “Romania’s commitment to support Moldova’s European course brings already concrete results in areas that are of major importance for the country’s modernization and for ensuring energy security and improving transport infrastructure,” she stated.

At the end of the meeting, the two ministers presented the postal set with the wording “Five years of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between Moldova and Romania for Moldova’s European Integration (2010-2015)”.
