The body of the Moldovan pilot who died in Afghanistan has been repatriated this morning, December 17. The information was made public in a meeting of the cell crisis chaired by acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega, IPN reports.

The body will be subject to medical examination in Moldova. The previous examinations performed by foreign institutions confirmed that the person who died is a Moldovan national - Oleg Groza. He was the pilot of the helicopter that was captured in Afghanistan by Taliban fighters.

The Moldovan authorities continue to take measures to set free the other two Moldovan members of the crew, who are held hostage. It’s known that their state of health is satisfactory.

The MI17-1V helicopter owned by the airline “Valan” was captured in Afghanistan after an emergency landing on November 24. There were three Moldovans, who were crew members, and 18 Afghani citizens on board.
