Boar hunting season starts

The hunters from next week will be allowed to shoot boars. The tax for a hunted wild pig is 2,500 lei plus 250 lei for the hunting permit for a day. Only the persons with authorizations will be allowed to hunt, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference, Oleg Ciocoi, the head of the National Council of the Association of Hunters and Fishermen, said the number of cases of poaching has increased. It is regrettable that the members of the Association also break the law. “Recently, a member of the Association shot a swan. This is a very unpleasant case,” said Oleg Ciocoi. According to the head of the Ministry of the Interior’s Public Order Division Nicolae Macovei, four criminal cases over contraband have been started this year so far, by two more than last year. There were drawn up over 1,200 reports over administrative cases, up by 200 cases. “The people do not respect and do not want to respect the law. They abusively break the hunting rules. Therefore, measures will be taken to fight poaching,” said Nicolae Macovei. The boar hunting season opens on October 24 and closes on December 26.
