The curative block No. 4 of the National Emergency Medicine Center, which has been under reconstruction for 20 years, is to be finished by April 2014. The hospital’s administration said that the reconstructed block will contain new sections and an annex will be built to it to house the anesthesia and intensive care section, Info-Prim Neo reports. During a visit to the working site on January 5, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the money for the works is allocated through the National Health Insurance Company and the Development Fund. Investments are to be attracted from the Government of Japan for outfitting the block with modern equipment. National Emergency Medicine Center director Gheorghe Ciobanu said the institution has a high professional potential, but needs modern technology. “We will make the efforts needed to cope with the situation,” he stated. The works on the block started in the 1990s and continued until 1995, but were then stopped. In 2006, they were resumed and were again halted in 2008. Last December, they were resumed again. The building site chief Ghenadie Cotorobai said that about 63 million lei was budgeted for performing the works. The first tranche of 9 million lei is to be disbursed next week. The works in winter will not be stopped.
