The Bloc ACUM’s decision to support the Socialist nominee for Parliament Speaker is very risky and in particular situations can lead to an electoral and political disaster for the two constituent parties of the bloc, political commentator Corneliu Ciurea was quoted by IPN as saying in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.
“The fact that they argued they want to choose the lesser evil is no longer convincing for anyone in the Republic of Moldova as a lot of people believe not the fight against the “bad oligarch” is a top priority, but the dangers that come from the East, as these are more dangerous for us,” stated Corneliu Ciurea, adding the Socialists insist on the old conditions that the Bloc ACUM is not ready to accept.
Nicolae Pascaru, president of “Voievod” Association, said the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” in its position underlines it is ready to vote in Maia Sandu as Prime Minister, but avoids saying this when it is about Zinaida Grecheanyi’s nomination for the post of Parliament Speaker. The PPDA actually does not want this coalition with the PSRM and would prefer to remain in the opposition. “I think they are not ready to come to power as being in the government for them would be very dangerous. They would remain in power for less than a year,” stated Nicolae Pascaru.
Former MP Valeriu Munteanu said he does not understand the position of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, which announced it will support the Socialists’ nominee for Speaker. He considers the PPDA was much more careful in this regard and put forward a series of conditions.
