Representatives of the electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS promise to improve access to high-quality services, including by reducing the prices of essential drugs by 25%. These also said they will raise the salaries and will create good working conditions for the people working in the health system. The bloc’s commitments in the health sector were presented in a news conference on February 1, IPN reports.

The representatives of ACUM pledge to increase the compensations for drugs provided from the state budget and to diminish the useless requirements for established drug producers so as to facilitate their access to the market. The representatives of the electoral bloc aim to improve the education of the future doctors and to step up the efforts to diminish infant mortality. Another measure is to increase the quality and access to oncological services and better equipped hospitals.

According to the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Năstase, the life and health of people cannot be negotiated and this strategic sector should be financed correctly so that the medical personnel and patients enjoy a medical system that centers on the people. “Regrettably, over the past 25 years the access to high-quality services for the largest part of society has been limited. Many of our parents haven’t visited a hospital for tens of years and not because they weren’t sick, but because they didn’t have resources. For this reason, the people in the Republic of Moldova live by ten years on average fewer than those in Western Europe,” noted the politician.

“Even if the slogan “Prevention is cheaper than cure” may be old-fashioned, we believe it is more topical than ever. Health is more than a simply medical problem and implies the responsibility of the whole society,” said Ecaterina Pitel, resident doctor and a candidate of the bloc ACUM in the national constituency.

The electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS is under number two on the ballot for the national constituency. The party has candidates in all the 51 single-member constituencies.
