Birute Abraitiene completes mission in Moldova

The Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Birute Abraitiene has completed her mission in Moldova. In a meeting, Acting President Mihai Ghimpu thanked her for her work and for the personal contribution to improving Moldova’s relations with this European organization, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Our country received substantial support from the Council of Europe in a difficult period that represents Moldova’s European start,” said Mihai Ghimpu. He also said that the Moldovan authorities make effort to accomplish the objectives set out in its working program, especially Moldova’s democratization and European integration, honoring thus its commitments to the Council of Europe. Birute Abraitiene started work in Moldova this January. She contributed to the promotion of the democratic reforms and provided support within the Joint Programs, including for adopting the Moldova - Council of Europe Plan of Action.
