Suppliers of petroleum products from January 1, 2026 could place on the market fuels that also contain renewable products. The Cabinet approved new regulations in this regard, IPN reports.
The document sets emission reduction targets of 50% to 80%, depending on the type of fuel and the year in which the biofuel production facilities are put into operation.
Measures are also foreseen to integrate renewable energy into the transport sector and to reduce the risks associated with the use of forest biomass from unsustainable sources.
The Ministry of Energy said that the regulations are part of Moldova’s commitment to comply with the objectives set in the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan for 2025-2030 and transposes the European Union directives on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources.
