The billboards set up on the road going from the airport to Chisinau will be removed by June 1. The deadline was announced in the April 17 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said the billboards placed illegally up to the City’s Gates will be taken away at the first stage.
Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said that some economic entities do not agree with such a decision and try to avoid taking the billboards down by different ways. The authorities are yet decided and assure that they will find legal instruments for removing the billboards set up unlawfully.
If the economic entities do not comply with the decision, the billboards will be taken away by force, but the related expenses will be covered by the owners. If they refuse to cover the given costs, they will be sued.
Last July, the legislative body adopted amendments to the Road Law, banning the setting up of billboards at a distance smaller than six meters from the roadway and near bridges, viaducts and road barriers. Outside settlements, the billboards must be built up at a distance of minimum 150 meters of stoplights.
