The registration of the units of transport with license plates issued in the Transnistrian region to ensure their access to international traffic will be performed by the subdivisions of the Public Services Agency in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa, based on confirmative documents showing where the person lives and that this owns the vehicle, accompanied by an own responsibility statement confirming that the information in these documents is accurate.

This is provided in a bill aimed at ensuring the implementation of the protocol decision concerning the access to international traffic of the units of transport registered on the left side of the Nistru and Bender municipality, IPN reports.

The units of transport registered based on this law can be sold without paying import duties if they are sold to persons who live on the left side of the Nistru and in Bender municipality or to legal entities that work as entrepreneurs in the territorial-administrative units of the Transnistrian region. If the units of transport are sold to persons who live on the right side of the Nistru, import duties will be paid.

To prevent attempts to avoid paying import duties, the persons who live elsewhere than in the territorial-administrative units of the Transnistrian region and Bender municipality will be banned from driving the units of transport registered based on this law on the national roads.

At the end of this April, Chisinau and Tiraspol reached a compromise as regards the mechanism for accepting vehicles registered in the Transnistrian region into international traffic. Under the agreement, the owners of vehicles from the Transnistrian region will receive neutral license plates and will be accepted into international traffic as of September
