The bill with amendments to the Education Law is promoted in a hurry, considers the rector of the Technical University of Moldova Ion Bostan. During the hearings held by the parliamentary commission in education, he said that every time the administration of the Ministry of Education is changed, there appears something new. During seven years, there were presented five bills to amend the Education Law. Some of them were much better than the current one that was proposed for public debates.

“Somebody is orchestrating things very well. The bill is promoted in a hurry, without modeling the consequences,” stated Ion Bostan, quoted by IPN. He also said that the establishment of a Quality Ensuring Agency for vocational and higher education, provided by the current bill, is not a new idea. Such an initiative existed in the previous bills too.

MP Ana Gutu said the Ministry of Education’s initiative is laudable and such reforms had to be implemented several years ago. She stated she will support this bill in Parliament and will make effort to convince her colleagues to do the same.

The bill with amendments to the Education Law was endorsed by the Government. The main amendments include the organization of three cycles of university education instead of two, so as to include the doctoral studies, and the foundation of a Quality Ensuring Agency for vocational and higher education.
