The bill to amend the Election Code and replace the party-list proportional representation system with the uninominal voting system was included in the agenda of the May 5 sitting of Parliament, at the proposal of Speaker Andrian Candu, IPN reports.

The Liberal MPs said that if the bill is debated in today’s sitting, they will leave the assembly hall in protest. The Lib-Dems also criticized the decision, invoking the hurry in which the bill was proposed for examination.

The Socialist parliamentary group, which also opposed the inclusion of the issue in the agenda, asked for a 30-minute break, inviting Andrian Candu to the group’s meeting.
