The bill that provides for the reformation of the Government will be agreed within two weeks, said Prime Minister Pavel Filip, quoted by IPN.

The Premier noted that the reform of the Government does not mean that a new executive will be named instead of the current one. But a part of the posts of minister will not be included in the new structure of the executive. “I declared not only once that there should be professionals and competent persons on the Cabinet, who can cope and can implement the Government’s program,” stated Pavel Filip.

As regards the deputy ministers, these will be replaced with secretaries and undersecretaries. “To keep the institutional memory, it is very important to strengthen the institution of secretaries and undersecretaries because these are persons who do not come and go with the fall or naming of a new Government,” stated the Premier.

The number of ministries will be cut from 16 to nine. The new composition will include: Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure; Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment; Ministry of Health and Social Protection; Ministry of Education, Culture and Research; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration; Ministry of the Interior; Ministry of Defense, and Ministry of Justice.

Under the new organogram, the Premier will have three deputy prime ministers – for labor, health and social protection, for country reunification and for European integration.
