Private individuals and legal entities can submit applications to take part in the two privatization contests – an investment one and a commercial one – announced by the Public Property Agency of the Ministry of Economy within this year’s second privatization round, of June-July 2014, IPN reports.

“The enterprises, undivided patrimonial complexes and other property included in the lists published in the Official Gazette were put up for privatization for several times. The initial selling price was reduced to practically their market price,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar.

The Chisinau jewelry factory Giuvaier and the movie theaters of Falesti and Leova will be privatized within the investment contest. At the commercial contest, there will be exhibited the bird reproduction centers in Branzeni, Telenesti and in Abaclia, Basarabeasca, the horse farm “AT Prolin” in Ciadar Lunga, the quarry in Milestii Mici, and the sanatorium complexes in Sergheevka “Avtodorojnic” and “Sanatate”. There will be also sold the 99.6% state-owned holding in the road company SA Drumuri-Cimislia.

“We have 12 such regional road maintenance companies that annually use over US$100 million from the Road Fund. If private investors capitalize them further, these companies will become eligible for infrastructure projects and here we have financing of almost €1 billion for modernizing the roads,” said Valeriu Lazar.

Submissions are accepted by the Public Property Agency by July 3, 4pm, together with other required documents and a bank participation guarantee of 200,000 lei.

The public property exhibited in this privatization round is valued at 894.44 million lei. But, according to the Ministry of Economy, only about 10% of the proposed assets are usually bought. A sum of 250 million lei is to be collected into the 2014 state budget as a result of privatization.
