A 25-year-old person driving under the influence of alcohol mortally hit a bicyclist aged 61 and drove away. It happened in Halahora de Jos village of Briceni district on July 29.
Press officer of the Briceni Police Inspectorate Dina Fomin has told IPN that the police were alerted by locals. When on the spot, the police officers established that the bicyclist was riding legally.
The driver was identified and caught shortly afterward. This was arrested for 72 hours and faces four to eight years behind bars.
The National Patrolling Inspectorate said the patrol inspectors during the last three days identified 95 persons driving inebriated, three of whom were motorcyclists, and seven persons driving under the influence of drugs.
