A bibliography dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the birth of painter and director general of the National Museum of Arts Tudor Zbarnea was launched on December 29. On the same occasion, an exhibition entitled “Contemporary arts – recent acquisitions” was opened at the museum, IPN reports.
Attending the event, acting Minister of Culture Monica Babuc approved of the cultural activity of the master. “He is an exceptional painter and an exceptional manager. What has happened at the National Museum of Arts over the last few years is mainly due to Tudor Zbarnea. I do not speak only about restorations, but also about cultural events that are organized with care and scrupulousness by the master. Mister Zbarnea is like a pillar of our national culture,” she stated.
In the event to launch the bibliography, the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova awarded Tudor Zbarnea the medal “Dimitrie Cantemir” for his contribution to arts. “I know him as a personality from the very beginning. He seemed an intellectual of our country, who indeed placed full stops and stated positions,” stated Gheorghe Duca.
The exhibition “Contemporary arts – recent acquisitions” contains 42 contemporary works of art made in Moldova and abroad in 1992-2015. These belong to accomplished painters and young artists. A part of the works were bought by the Ministry of Culture, while others were donated by authors or philanthropists.
The exhibit will continue until January 17, 2016.
