The nine winners of the National Competition “Teacher of 2020” were awarded at the Laureates Gala on October 5. The festivity staged on the occasion of the Professional Day of Education System Employees was held at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”. The winners of the top three prizes received by 50,000 lei, 25,000 lei and 15,000 lei, respectively, in award. The laureates also received a teaching level higher to their current level and had their superior teaching rank confirmed.
Minister of Education, Culture and Research Igor Sharov congratulated all the education system employees on the occasion of the holiday, saying that the teachers, together with the doctors, are the heroes of the present time.
“Nothing is more responsible on earth than educating people. We discover this truth on maturity, when we realize that our human and professional development is the result of the work of generations of teachers who guided us on the path to knowledge. Discreet, but perseverant, passionate and responsible, hearty and devoted to their vocation, they had been near us, offering us their knowledge and life experience,” stated the minister.
The national stage of the “Teacher of the Year” Competition was held online by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research during September 14 – 30. That stage involved 51 teachers divided into three categories, namely “Professor of the Year”, “Teacher of the Year” and “Educator of the Year”.
