Best representatives of theatrical art awarded at UNITEM Gala 2016

The best actors and actresses and the best plays and personalities that promote and support the theatrical art were awarded at the 15th UNITEM Awards Gala that coincided with the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Theater Union of Moldova (UNITEM), IPN reports.

The Best Women’s Role Award was offered to Irina Rusu for her role in the play “Our elderly people”, while the Best Men’s Role Award went to Petru Hadarca for his role in “The house on the border” and Nicu Turcanu for his role in “Dorian Gray”.

People’s Artist, actress and university teacher Paulina Zavtoni won the Lifelong Work Award. This said that this prize reminds her of her colleagues from the Theater “Luceafarul”, together with whom she worked for 55 years.

Actor and director Petru Hadarca received also the Excellence Award. “As universal classical writers said: All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. I realize that we live in a country with the Theater of the Absurd, but dear politicians, don’t hinder us from earning our livelihood,” he stated, addressing the politicians attending the event.

The Leonid Cemortan Award went to writer and theater critic Larisa Turea. This said that she is lucky to be doing what she likes for many years. “I knew well Mister Leonid Cemortan. We cooperated a lot and this award is an honor,” she stated.

The Award of the UNITEM President was offered seven times in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Union’s creation: direction – Olesea Svecla; scenography – Iurie Matei; acting – Alexandru Plesca, Adela Calistru, Avelin Tabarcea, and Arcadie Racila. The duo Anatol Durbala and Constantin Cheianu got this prize for their criticism and support offered to actors and the theater.

The Children’s Best Play Award was given to the play “Eliza and the Wild Swans” put on at the Theater “Luceafarul”. The Ion-Sandri Scurea Award went to Alexandru Decuseara.

The cultural event was staged on the occasion of World Theater Day.
