Best energy efficiency projects awarded

Twenty companies, organizations and private individuals were awarded at the third Moldova Eco-Energetica Gala for energy efficiency ideas and projects and for using renewable sources of energy. The Gala was staged by the Ministry of Economy on December 5, IPN reports.

In the event, director of the Energy Efficiency Agency Mihail Stratan said the developments in the area of energy efficiency show that this field can develop rapidly and can contribute to reducing the shortage of energy experienced by Moldova.

There were handed over awards of €1,000. The winners in the category “Best Solar Energy Project” are the kindergarten of Chiscareni village of Sangerei district, which uses photovoltaic energy, and the Children’s Rehabilitation Center “Tony Hawks”, which uses thermal energy.

In the category “Best Aeolian Energy Project”, the award went to “Elteprod” SRL, which runs an eolian station in Bratuseni, Edinet, while in the category “Best Geothermal Energy Project” – to the shopping center “Convel” SRL located in Chisinau.

Before handing over the awards, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola said that initially the idea of implementing renewable energy projects in Moldova was a small project that was later developed and now grows every year. What the participants in the Gala do is very important.

In the category “Best Bioenergy Project”, the winners were: Ala Gadrautan from Braniste village of Rascani district in the ‘solid fuel’ subcategory; the Calfa mayor’s office of Anenii Noi district and “Green Farm” SRL in the ‘energy supply systems’ subcategory.

There was also awarded the “Best Communication Initiative” by journalists who inform the population about renewable energy. The winner was Anatol Caciuc, of Radio Moldova. In the category “Best Education Initiative”, there was awarded the Association for the Promotion of Wind Energy of Comrat, while in the “Best Youth Initiative” – the Chisinau Circle of Young Inventors. The special prize was awarded to the Gaidar mayor’s office of Gagauzia.

The winners in the category “Best Energy Efficiency Project” are: Lucia and Mihai Gavrilita from Bacioi commune of Chisinau municipality (construction sector); Apa-Canal Orhei (energy sector), and “Agromaxer” SRL of Onitcani, Criuleni (industrial sector).

Awards in the category “Eco-Responsible Technologies” were given to “Biagro Invest” SRL, “CvadroTherm”  SRL, “Eco Evolution” SRL, “PolytechTerm” SRL, and “Profsystem” SRL.

Moldova Eco Energetica is the largest contest awarding the most successful energy efficiency projects. More than 200 projects took part in the three contests held so far, with 52 of them being awarded. The contest is organized by the Ministry of Economy and the Energy Efficiency Agency with the support of the Moldova Energy and Biomass Project, funded by the European Union and UNDP Moldova, and of the Energy Efficiency Fund.
