Best Chisinau teachers awarded

The best teachers working in the municipality of Chisinau were awarded at a ceremony held at the theoretical high school “Mihai Viteazul”on April 14. Eighteen teachers and educators took part in the sixth Teacher of the Year contest, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ludmila Grosu, of kindergarten No. 136, was named the best educator in the Preschool Education System. The best teacher in the Secondary Education System this year is Daniela Vacarciuc, of the theoretical high school “Vasile Alecsandri”, while the best in the Primary Education System is Gabrielei Stati, of the theoretical high school “Mihail Berezovschi”. Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of the Chisinau Council, said the Teacher of the Year contest has been held in some schools since 1999, but became a municipal contest in 2007. “The contest shows that no matter how difficult the situation in the education system is, there will always be professionals who have a vocation for teaching and will daily make effort to develop chidlren's abilities and attitudes,” said Tatiana Mistreanu, the head of the School Inspection Section. The prize for the first place was 10,000 lei, the second place – 5,000 lei, while the third place – 3,000 lei. The prize for participation was 1,000 lei. The winners of the contest will represent the municipality of Chisinau at the national contest Teacher of the Year 2010, organized by the Ministry of Education.
