Best cars to compete for Car of 2008 Award

The best cars on the market will compete for the Car of 2008 in Moldova Award. The contest kicked off on Monday, being organized by the Auto Expert Magazine and the Moldova Association of Auto Press for the fourth time, Info-Prim Neo reports. Andrei Tabuica, head of the Moldova Association of Auto Press told a press conference that the aim of the contest is to establish which automobile can be considered the best in a particular segment of the market and merits the title of the Car of the Year. “We want to find out which car is the most popular, most sold and we are especially interested in the new cars. We also intend to learn about the trends on the auto market as well as the consumer’s opinion”, Tabuica mentioned. The models are divided based on the classes and each car is assigned a code. The victory of a model in each class depends on the number of votes obtained. The public can vote by accessing – www.automobilulanului.md, or by SMS on the number 2008 (available only for Moldcell users). The winners will be determined by a special jury, which brings together journalists writing for the auto reporters as well as the Moldova Autocross champion Andrei Vasilachi. Best cars will be selected according to the following criteria: design, quality, road maneuvering, price-quality and others. The cars which will be admitted for the final stage of the competition will be tested by all the members of the jury. Another important factor taken into account, besides the comfortableness, technology, price and quality will be the opportunity of the specific car on the local market. The contest will finalize on December 10, the prizes being awarded on December 12 within a special ceremony. 311 types of automobiles imported to Moldova are included in the competition. The winner of the last year award was Fiat Braun. The best selling cars in Moldova are those produced in Russia at VAZ and Romania's Dacia.
