The Moldovan Boxing Federation made public the names of the best boxers, best boxing coach and best referee in a news conference on January 25, IPN reports.
Vasile Belous from Grimancauti was named the best senior boxer. Among Moldovan pugilists, he was the closest to go to the Rio Olympics, ranking third in the qualifying competition.
“I regret that we didn’t have boxers at the Olympic Games, for the first time. I repeat that we were disadvantaged by referees,” said Petru Caduc, who was named coach of the year.
Vladislav Gudzi from Tiraspol, who last year became European champion, was chosen as the best boxer younger than 14. European vice champion Constantin Ursu from Chisinau was named the best boxer younger than 16. Anatoly Kaigorodov, who in 2008 refereed the plus 91 kg final of the Olympic Games, became the best referee.
