Organizations of Bessarabian students in Romania sent a letter to the president of Romania Traian Basescu, the Government and the ministries of education and foreign affairs, asking that they raise the number of awards for Moldovan young persons, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The letter says that the number of applications to Romanian education establishments this year is the largest. “The Moldovan young people contributed to the change of the Communist regime by their votes, being the determining force at the April 6-7 protests. The young persons studying in Romania were the catalyst for the new political developments in Bessarabia. Therefore, we consider that the number of student awards for the young Romanian ethnics from Moldova should be increased so that we have a European future in our country,” the letter reads.
“We ask that the places that remained vacant at high schools be redistributed to universities so that they prepare specialists in the fields needed by Moldova,” the signatories say.
The letter was signed by the Organization of Bessarabian Students in Bucharest, the Organization of Bessarabian Students in Timisoara, the Association of Bessarabian Yong People in Iasi and the Club of Bessarabian and Bucovinian Students of the Student League in Galati.
