Benches for Chisinau’s central garden to be repaired from Christmas tree

After the Christmas tree set up in central Chisinau is undecorated, its wood will be used to repair benches of the Public Garden “Stephan the Great”. The head of the Green Areas Association Eliferie Haruta has told Info-Prim Neo that this practice became already a tradition. The fir tree’s wood is enough to repair five or six benches. “Three or four planks 7-8 meters long are obtained from the tree. The rest of the wood is used for heating,” said Eliferie Haruta. The decorations from the Christmas tree will be taken away when Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca makes a relevant order. This is expected to happen on January 15. The tree was placed in the Great National Assembly Square early in December. The Chisinau City Hall bought it from a family living in Botanica district for 9,000 lei. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said in a meeting that a metal frame may be used instead of a natural tree starting with the next winter holidays. It will be decked with decorations and lighting.
