Belgium has opened an Honorific Consulate in Chisinau. It is located in the Euro Tower centre that was built with Belgian investments with the aim of promoting the European business in Moldova. Euro Tower also houses the Moldovan-Belgian Chamber of Trade and a number of Belgian companies, IPN reports.

Attending the opening, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that an extraordinary relationship has been established with Belgium over the last few years. He voiced hope that the consulate will become an embassy one day.

“We are glad to transmit our support to the people, Parliament and the Government of Moldova in their efforts to come closer to the European values and the European integration,” stated Foreign Minister of Belgium Didier Reynders, who pad a visit to Chisinau on September 5, alongside the foreign ministers of the Netherlands and Luxemburg. Didier Reynders said he hopes he will soon return to Moldova to take part in the opening of an embassy.

Euro Tower is a project of the company Euromol IMMO that has worked in Moldova for many years, leasing out offices to foreign investors. The business center is situated on Independentei St in Botanica district, not far from the Chisinau International Airport. It can also serve as a launch pad and a support platform for business incubators.
