The Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobeakov will make a working visit to Moldova at the invitation of Premier Pavel Filip. The invitation was issued in a meeting of the two officials held on the sidelines of the summit of CIS Prime Ministers in Bishkek, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the Belarusian Premier will come to Moldova at the end of this year. A meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic cooperation and a forum of businessmen from Moldova and Belarus will be held in Chisinau on this occasion.

In the meeting, the two Premiers noted there are favorable preconditions for developing the bilateral cooperation in the commercial sphere and as regards investment. In this connection, Pavel Filip underlined the interest in increasing Moldova’s exports, especially of agrifood products, to Belarus and the Eurasian Union. He also underlined the opportunity of maintaining a green corridor for perishable Moldovan products.

Pavel Filip stressed the necessity of developing the capacities of assembling Belarusian trolleybuses and tractors for exporting these to the EU. He invited companies of Belarus to take part in the implementation of the national road development program in Moldova and to use the Giurgiulesti port for exporting Belarusian fertilizers to other countries.

For his part, Andrei Kobeakov confirmed Belarus’ interest in accelerating commercial exchanges and in continuing cooperating in making agricultural machinery, such as tractors and mini-combines, and trolleybuses.

Belarus is one of Moldova’s main economic and commercial partners. In January – March 2016, trade between the two countries came to US$44.7 million.
