The Tianjin Beijing Opera Academy staged the opera “Peking” at the National Opera House “Maria Biesu” within the International Festival “Martsishor 2017” and in connection with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Moldova. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of Moldova in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China and the Embassy of China, IPN reports.

“During the 25 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Moldova, the bilateral relations developed constantly and showed vital vitality and flourishing. The cultural exchanges represent an important part of the bilateral cooperation between the two states. China and Moldova already became good friends and partners,” China’s Ambassador to Moldova Zhang Yinghong stated in the event.

The diplomat said that when taking part in the annual “Martsishor” Festival, the ensembles of China present a wide repertoire of the traditional Chinese art, which is warmly welcomed by the local public. For the first time this year, they present the Peking opera, which is a form of art that deepens the understanding and mutual confidence between the two peoples.

The Peking opera or Beijing opera is a form of Chinese opera that combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance, and acrobatics. Peking opera features four main types of performers. They use the skills of speech, song, dance, and combat in movements that are symbolic and suggestive, rather than realistic. This art expresses the esthetic theater ideals and valuable conceptions of the traditional Chinese society and represents the common spiritual patrimony of humanity.

Zhang Yinghong also said that the famous artists of the Tianjin Beijing Opera Theater present the rich traditional Chinese culture to the Moldovan public, this being an important event in the history of the Chinese-Moldovan cultural exchanges.
