A 41-year-old man died on the way to the hospital after he was beaten with a plank over his head in Ruseștii-Noi village of Ialoveni district on January 10.
Ialoveni Police Inspectorate press officer Silvia Vetcu has told IPN that the police were alerted by ambulance doctors who stated the man’s death en route to Chisinau.
It happened in the yard of a man aged 52, where this, the victim and another man aged 64 allegedly drank alcoholic beverages together. The victim and the 64-year-old man went into a conflict and the latter hit the man aged 41 with a plank.
The police said the victim has a criminal record and earlier served time in jail for different types of offenses.
The suspect was arrested for 72 hours. He faces 12 to 15 years in prison for intentionally causing serious bodily injuries that resulted in death.
