Bread at the price of 1.5 lei will no longer be available in stores. After a pause of a year, the bakery complex “Franzeluta” intends to resume the production of the so-called social bread “Chisinau”, but the price will be higher, IPN reports.
The company’s economic director Angela Sheremet, in the program “Dialog” on Agro TV Moldova channel, said the bread “Chisinau” stopped to be produced after the old equipment broke down. A solution is to be identified in 2016 and the production of this type of bread will be resumed, but it will cost more already.
According to Angela Sheremet, bread making is not a profitable business for “Franzeluta”. This year the company sustained losses of 15 million lei on bread making, 12 million lei of which represents losses generated by the production of the cheapest bread, whose cost price is 6-6.4 lei, but is sold for 4.5 lei. Of the total bread made, 22% represents bread sold at the lowest prices.
