The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists suggested against creating a commission of inquiry into the circumstances of issuing state guarantees and national currency in 2014-2015, which led to the bank fraud. The proposal was formulated in Thursday’s sitting of Parliament, but was rejected by a majority of votes, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, MP Vlad Batrîncea said the proposal was submitted in connection with the Constitutional Court’s decision of April 22, which stipulates that the provision of state guarantees and the issuing of national currency to the value 9.5 billion lei and, respectively, 5.34 billion lei by the National Bank took place in breach of the Constitution.

“The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova then didn’t adopt any decision on the provision of state guarantees to the value of 14 billion lei by the National Bank of Moldova. The secret decisions that were accepted then by the Government, with the participation of the NBM’s administration, should be the subject of an inquiry. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova want those to blame to be held accountable,” stated the Socialist MP.

The BSC MPs noted that the over 14 billion lei offered to the bankrupt banks is being annually repaired by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The debt is to be paid during 25 years at an interest rate of 5%. In total, until 2041 the citizens are to repay 25 billion lei.

Last week, the BCS MPs also proposed setting up a commission of inquiry that would identify the politicians involved in the bank fraud. The PAS majority put off the vote on the issue.
