The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) call upon the Government to support agricultural producers so as to ensure the country’s food security. These formulated several proposals concerning the refund of the excise duties and VAT paid on diesel fuel that is used in farming works and of the VAT paid on phytosanitary products and fertilizers, IPN reports.
MP Radu Mudreac told a news conference that the Government should review its decision concerning the provision of assistance to agricultural producers. A bill to refund 100% of the excise duties and VAT paid on diesel fuel that is used in farming works was introduced into Parliament, but the executive rejected it.
The MPs suggest subsidizing at least 3 lei per kg of apples offered for processing at the price of only 1.45 lei/kg. According to Radu Mudreac, this will enable to cover at least partially the costs incurred by fruit producers whose products remained in cold storage facilities.
It is proposed purchasing minimum 100,000 tonnes of wheat for the state reserves. As the export of wheat was restricted, grain producers practically do not have funds to cover operating costs. The law on public procurement should be amended by prioritizing the purchase of national food products for public institutions, especially kindergartens, schools, hospitals, penitentiaries, etc.
In the same news conference, ex-minister of agriculture Ion Perju said the prices soared, but the executive does nothing to curb them or at east to maintain them.
Also today, representatives of the Party of Communists mounted a protest in forint of the Government Building. They accused the government of pursuing an antipopular and antisocial policy, saying the administrations’ incompetence brought the people to poverty. Members of Șor Party joined in.
