The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists requested the Constitutional Court to establish the legality of the Parliament’s decision to declare a state of emergency, IPN reports, quoting a press release of BCS.
The MPs noted that the state of emergency was primarily declared with the aim of repaying the debt to Gazprom until January 21 and the 50% advance for January and of enabling Moldovagaz to pay the VAT later.
As Moldovagaz the same day fulfilled its obligation, the goal of the state of emergency was achieved. The declaring of a state of emergency for a 60-day period cannot be unjustified from legal viewpoint, violates the basic human and civil rights, runs counter to the Constitution and other national and international normative document and aims to block protests, to institute SIS control over the press and to censure the mass media.
The state of emergency in Moldova was declared on January 20 for a period of 60 days.
