The chairman of the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) Dinu Ciocan reported in Parliament that a number of important broadcasting projects were launched in 2014. These created preconditions for developing a free, pluralistic and competitive broadcasting market, protecting the public interests and adjusting the national broadcasting sector to the current and future trends on the international market, IPN reports.
In 2014, the Council held 35 public meetings where there were adopted 203 decisions that were published on the institution’s website and in the Official Gazette of Moldova. For the violation of the legislation on broadcasting, the BCC imposed 156 penalties, including 50 fines and a ban on broadcasting advertisements during a period of 72 hours.
In the period, the BCC issued 43 new and extended broadcast licenses. Five broadcast licenses were conceded to three radio stations and two TV channels. Three broadcast licenses were withdrawn at request.
New radio and TV stations appeared last year, including “Canal Regional”, which broadcasts journalistic programs collected from a number of local producers, the ordinary channels ATV COGUK and “Realitatea TV”, the religious channel TEZAUR TV, and the recreational music radio station “Dialog FM”.
