The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) warned publicly the broadcasters that violate the regulations concerning the covering of the campaign preceding the November 30 parliamentary elections. The Council established that only the channels Moldova 1 and Pro TV cover the election campaign mainly impartially, IPN reports.
BCC chairman Dinu Ciocan said that the election runners are generally covered in a balanced way, but not all the TV channels ensure this balance. “The public TV channel Moldova 1 managed to cover objectively practically all the registered contenders. Thus, this is possible,” he stated.
Council member Mariana Onceanu-Hadarca said the monitoring report shows that all the election runners are offered airtime. “About 27% of the airtime is allocated to the ruling parties, while another 27% to the opposition and extraparliamentary parties. This is a positive indicator,” she noted.
The BCC decided to warn publicly the channels Prime, Publika TV, Canal 3, Canal 2, N 4, TV 7, Jurnal TV, Accent TV, Euro TV, and Ren Moldova. RTR Moldova was only warned. Another 12 broadcasters were warned publicly because they didn’t present the weekly reports asked by the Council even if they announced that they will cover the election campaign.
